Chandigarh: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday inaugurated 124 schools across the state under the first phase of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India’ (PM-Shri) scheme. Speaking at a program organized by the Haryana School Education Department in Rohtak, Pradhan said that the schools under the Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri) program will be a symbol of excellence with modern education of the 21st century.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that the launch of schools under the PM-Shri scheme will increase the potential of school education in Haryana and the children of the state will benefit from this initiative. According to an official statement, he also appreciated the excellent efforts made by Haryana in the education sector and highlighted that the state is emerging as a leader in the field of education in the country.
Pradhan mentioned the promotion of skill and technology based education and emphasis on mother tongue in the new education policy. He also praised the achievements of Haryana players in the recent Asian Games held in China. Khattar said that in an effort to enhance the quality of education in the state, 124 schools have been inaugurated in the first phase under the PM-Shri scheme. He said that 128 more schools will be started in the second phase.
Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that an allocation of Rs 85 crore has been provided by the Central Government for the establishment of 124 schools under the scheme in the first phase. The Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri) scheme aims to provide quality education for cognitive development of students and create holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key skills of the 21st century.
PM-Shri is a centrally sponsored scheme that aims to develop more than 14,500 schools across the country by strengthening select existing schools being managed by the government. Khattar announced that 4,000 playway schools established in the state will now be recognized as ‘Bal Vatika’ schools. He said that the government plans to establish similar number of additional schools in future also. He said that Anganwadi centers have been converted into schools to provide education including sports to children.
