Mumbai: The Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday evening posted a four-year-old video of its leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on its official ‘X’ account, in which he has talked about returning to power in the state, regarding which A round of speculations has started in the political circles of the state. BJP’s Maharashtra unit chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay said there was no need to ‘draw any conclusions’ regarding the video posted on Friday. Speaking to a TV channel, he said, “BJP’s stand is clear. This video has been posted on social media earlier also. Fadnavis has said that the next elections in the state will be fought under the leadership of Shinde.
Upadhyay said, “There is no need for the Shinde group to be apprehensive (about the video). There is good rapport and coordination between Shinde and Fadnavis. Shinde, Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar are working together for the development of Maharashtra. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told a TV channel that he had not yet seen the video posted by the state unit of the BJP.
BJP leader Praveen Darekar said that Fadnavis has already made it clear that the state government is working well under Shinde’s leadership. Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan wondered whether any steps were being taken to remove Shinde from the post of Chief Minister. He said, “Maybe Shinde is being made a scapegoat. Such a step could be taken because the government led by him has failed to deal with important issues.
The state unit of BJP posted this video two days after Fadnavis visited New Delhi and met senior party leaders. Shinde-led Shiv Sena, NCP (Ajit Pawar group) and BJP are part of the ruling coalition in the state.
